How does a chemical peel work?
Chemical peels exfoliate skin cells on the skin’s surface. Peels offer light or deep exfoliation depending on the type of peel used. By exfoliating the skin and removing the microscopic top layers, new skin beneath it is regenerated and revealed as smoother, shinier skin. Chemical peels are much like a facial, but with the peel. During a peel, your skin may feel warm and tingly. The peel stays on for 2-5 minutes depending on the type of peel. It is then neutralized or rinsed off and the skin is moisturized. Your skin may be slightly red after a peel. Redness usually subsides in 24-48 hours. Deeper peels have effects that can last up to 7 days. Our nurse will discuss the benefits and expectations of our peels and give you options that will help you achieve your goals.
What results can I expect to see after my chemical peel?
The results of your chemical peel will depend on the type of peel. Ultimately, after the skin has peeled and regenerated, you may notice an improvement in your skin’s texture and tone.
How many treatments will I need?
Generally, the number of treatments depends on the condition of your skin, the goals you are trying to achieve and the type of peel used. Most patients require 3 or more treatments.
